Fox Italia is shutting down, the channel more than others that has shaped the history of pay TV in Italy, being there since the start of Sky Italia in 2003.

As an Italian, tomorrow it'll be a sad day.

On next year, It would've been its 20th anniversary
The loss of Fox Italy may be unfortunate, but a good deal of its content fortunately is already available on Disney+ in Italy, and more of it could come in the future.

Dry ending after The Simpsons for Fox Italia at around 00:00, final credits, black screen and then your usual infocard from Sky.

RIP Fox Italia, arguably the revolutionary TV series broadcaster in Italy, leading to Italy having been the home of new Fox channels for a long time.

You've gone, but you'll be missed.

31 July 2003 - 30 June 2022 .

This thread has not been updated for a month. Looks like Disney's onslaught on linear channels has grinded to a halt.
Even then, some parts of the world will still have the linear channel or channels for years, even decades to come. The shut downs around the world have been slowing down. We had a peak already. Not many will shut down quickly at the same time anymore.

Still weird that DC in the UK got shut down during the COVID times. It should've happened much later. But it happened and we gotta deal with it. D+ is popular ther enough so I don't mind.

Disney Channel UK closed when it did because that was when the contract with Sky expired, I would imagine that carriage for Disney channels were done on a five year contract, 25 is a multiple of 5, so that would mean its closure would fall on its 25th Birthday.

Sky and Virgin weren't willing to pay more, although I still believe that Disney purposely overcharged so they can close the channels as they knew the viewing ratings weren't that good. Disney+ has been a success here, sad to see Disney Channel gone, but I still think it was the better business decision. Disney's content has been surrounded by a premium paywall in one form or another and to varying degrees, Disney+ is no different. Adjusted for inflation, it's a lot more value for money compared to when the channel first launched in 1995.

I think the countries where Disney Channel is free and the ones that lacked a Disney XD channel did better in terms of ratings, in the bigger markets, the channels were a bit thin on the ground. I also think in the countries where XD has now closed has helped the main channel.

The channel closures are no different to what Nickelodeon has done, expect their way was a lot more stealthy by taking a less localised approach, but by doing so, they still retained a presence in each and every market (except Japan and South Korea), and also spinning off their Swiss operations as well.

They should have kept the on demand services for new shows on Sky I feel as Sky did a better job than Disney Plus on new stuff liner service or not.

Just look at the services left standing.

Baby TV just having it they are better.

Moonbug is rumoured to be sold to ex Disney CEO of Candle Media but still being there when it was Disney and with it still showing a few Disney's like Super Strikers in it today I'm going to count it as same case.

Nat Geo has more of the full library on Sky of this year's stuff so it's better than the alternative.

Utsav has many issues not all the shows, sometimes missing upload dates, missing the endings and bad fading out on what they show of the end but other than that better all round than the TV version being uncensored adult versions with decent sized and always in sync with talking manual subs instead of the small channel ones proper good sound and better logo free picture and advert free content, late upload times and good upload times random. But again being there means better than the alternative you have to pay Hotstar to get this but this is built in to Sky.

When we had them Sky Disney in Sky Cinema, Disney Channel, XD, Junior, Jetix Play uploaded every current run show without fail.

Ok, Sky got rid of the channels but we should have kept the full digital section going current run has a purpose of still being on Sky + and all Q veriants as Disney+ does current run shocking I've heard including fuming most of it on Hulu UK doesn't even get I don't even sub to it I refuse doesn't give me extra like a Plus means or all of Disney itself.

Here is a rushed lot of picture dumps of the vast amount of content Sky still has of the Disney UK channels left standing in the UK hopefully they stay and grow enough in English subtitles British viewers to force Disney to ransom to bring back the kids networks and more important the film's network for Disney on Sky Cinema.

How can Disney + call themselves the new better alternative to Sky if they don't have Hotstar English Subbed at all, most Nat Geo is not a cross the service and a fukl Baby TV tab that Sky still carries but so should the service that's entire name is about giving you extra the full experience that's why even though I do like Disney I will not sub because it doesn't have all their own works ever on it.

also, I don't know if can ever look at any of the shows connected to Dan Schneider in a good light ever again. some of the actors are ok with us still enjoying them but I don't know if I can get past it.
as a survivor of childhood trauma, I I wish everyone would leave Amanda Bynes alone. she owes us nothing, and I hope she's doing as well as she can possibly be right now.
I think most people are very upset and lamenting the fact that Nickelodeon (NOT including preschool shows nor nick@nite) aren't having regular new episodes since after Transformers: EarthSpark finished the season.

Let's hope we get new promos during watching Sonic the Hedgehog 2 tomorrow night.

I knew about the promotional cans but I'm just seeing this ad for the first time. I love seeing Daredevil pushed by Marvel.
Notable moment from The Rock.
