Teen Nick, as far as I'm concerned, is dead. Two shows that make up 98% of the schedule, the discontinuation of Nick Rewind, and bringing back other shows like Victorious and Sam & Cat, only to remove them again after a month or two. That's what Teen Nick has done in the past year.
If things...
And in November, we're getting more endless Henry Danger with America's Funniest Home Videos on the side.
I have a bad feeling TeenNick is slowly being phased out, with 98% of its schedule being the two aforementioned shows. After all, it's Nick Rewind block was quietly discontinued in the same...
"Bushy Hare" actually did air once on Boomerang in 2016 or 2017. Back when the channel occasionally showed other shorts outside of their regular rotation. I remember being quite surprised when I seen it air on Boomerang.
I wouldn't mind an over-the-air network similar to the likes of MeTV but for just cartoons.
But realistically, the current cartoons showings on MeTV is probably the best we're going to get. We have Looney Tunes, Tom & Jerry, Popeye, Pink Panther, Betty Boop, Droopy and The Inspector all airing...
I never thought I would see the day when Nicktoons is actually more varied than Teen Nick. Granted, the channel has long since gone downhill, but currently, Teen Nick has Henry Danger and America's Funniest Home Videos filling up 98% of its schedule.
I'm glad you listed I Am Frankie and Hunter Street. Both shows are extremely underrated, even by Nick themselves. I Am Frankie was cancelled on a cliffhanger after Season 2, and Season 4 of Hunter Street never aired in the US.
I have couple theories why 97% of Teen Nick's schedule has been Henry Danger sprinkled with America's Funniest Home Videos:
1. Nickelodeon doesn't know what to do with the channel. So for the time being, they are just using Henry Danger is a placeholder. This could also explain the weird and...
Normally, I would be annoyed to see nothing but the Loud House airing all day, as it already airs enough on the main channel and Nicktoons, but considering the current state of Teen Nick, it's an improvement, because at least it's not Henry Danger.
So, there's currently only five shows that air on TeenNick. They are Henry Danger, NFL Slimetime, That Girl Lay Lay, Tyler Perry's Young Dylan and America's Funniest Home Videos. The vast majority of it is Henry Danger, while AFHV seems to be there for the absolute bare minimum of variety. The...
I think he meant to say Planet Sheen, which was a spin-off of Jimmy Neutron, focusing on one of his best friends, Sheen.
I watched only like one episode of the show, before giving up on it. It wasn't good.
I view the initial removal of Victorious in October last year the beginning of the end for the channel. From there, NickSplat would start only airing Rugrats and iCarly in December, then just iCarly in January, before the block was discontinued altogether by the end of the month.
Victorious...
Unbelievable. And TeenNick was just starting to slightly improve with showing Victorious and then Sam & Cat again. Now, it's in the worst state it has ever been.
What are they thinking here? Whose idea was this? What demographic is it going to appeal to by having the vast majority of the...
Well, it's a start. It's nice to see VIctorious finally return to the channel. I'm usually awake at 4 AM, (I have weird sleeping hours) so I'll be sure to catch some episodes.
I'm still waiting for the entirety of Season of Hunter Street, which still hasn't aired or been added to Paramount+ in the US a full year later. What's going on here?
I'm going to have to agree that Season 3 is the best season. It felt like a good middle ground between the "early installment weirdness" and the changes that the later seasons bring. With that being side, I enjoy everything from Season 2 to Season 5, outside a few episodes like the infamous "No...
Clearly not. If they had, they would have brought back NickRewind. Which they really need to, as its probably the only thing that can save the channel at this point.
Most people don't even have Paramount+, and many people are getting sick of subscribing to endless streaming services. That's...
I hate to say it, but I think Season 6 has been pretty lackluster so far. It's my least favorite season to date, except maybe for Season 1. I've enjoyed Seasons 2-5, but Season 6 just hasn't done much for me so far.
I mean, NickRewind probably made up for much of the channel's ratings, and now that's gone. I knew removing the block would hurt the channel, and that theory is starting to be proven true.
For me, 2020 was the last good full year of TeenNick. The tipping point was October last year, when Victorious was removed form the schedule. The discontinuation of NickRewind at the end of January was the final nail in the coffin. TeenNick is just the "iCarly, Henry Danger and the Thundermans"...
I think the reason they've done this with the Travel/Trvl Channel is because the channel is less about travelling and more about paranormal these days. Kind of like how MTV is no longer Music Television, but just MTV.
Either way, I agree. They should have either kept the name exactly the same...
TV.com had been going downhill for years by the time it was shut down anyway. The final nail in the coffin was when they removed the forums altogether.
Though I prefer The Loud House, this was still a fine show in its own right, and it's shame to see it cancelled.
But now that it is cancelled, I wonder if that means the Casagrande family will move back to Royal Woods. Just because the show is cancelled, doesn't mean we won't see any future...
Yeah, TeenNick is just the "iCarly, Henry Danger and Thundermans Channel" now. The channel had already been going downhill since October 2021 when Victorious suddenly disappeared, and the removal of NickRewind was the final nail in the coffin.
To be honest, I wasn't sure about the ownership, so fair enough. Still, they should at least bring back the old Nicktoons on the channel again.
Come to think of it, wasn't Wild Grinders the last show they had that was exclusive to the channel in the US? I guess the decline in ratings for an...
No, at least not for a good while. Not everyone has Paramount+, nor is willing to pay yet another streaming service. I can guarantee way more people have Nickelodeon.
Nicktoons should come out with a block called Nicktoons Rewind. It would be similar to Nick Rewind, but with a focus on the shows that used to air on Nicktoons during the 2000's, both first-party and acquired. This means shows like Rugrats, Hey Arnold, Rocket Power and ChalkZone to shows like...
I'm pretty sure the real reason they discontinued the block is to try and get more Paramount+ subscribers.
Either way, there's been a lot of backlash over the block shutting down. Hopefully, this will send Nick the message to either bring back the block or air some of the shows that was on the...
What they should do is scatter some of the shows that was on NickRewind into the daily schedule for TeenNick or Nicktoons.
I'm not getting my hopes up too high though, because both channels are largely on auto-pilot now.
Nicktoons would really benefit from it. Instead of having SpongeBob marathons every night (which is already on the main channel enough), why not use that extra room for that? I would start with moving the NickRewind regulars from last year over there (Rugrats, Doug, Hey Arnold and Rocko's Modern...
Now that NickRewind is dead, the very least they could do is bring the 1991 Rugrats series back to Nicktoons for regular airings, as it already airs on the channel for special occasions. Keep Rugrats going on live TV.
I don't know about anyone else, but I thought MTV was the best in the 90's, when it was a mix of music videos and actual shows.
Yeah, and not mention, some of these are also owned by Viacom. I think the really issue is the Nickelodeon shows are far more niche compared to the shows the...
Yeah, but what makes them think airing only music videos is going to be any better?
Yeah, for example, Logo, which mostly airs old sitcoms like Three's Company, Married with Children and The Nanny, and it's been like that for several years now, so I wouldn't say retro channels can never work...
Yeah, if I remember correctly, this isn't the first time that iCarly aired past midnight without the NickRewind bug. If that bug doesn't appear tonight, then I'll personally confirm the block dead.
By the way, I have the final airing of Rugrats on my DVR. It's an end of an era not just for the...
I largely agree with you on "Appetite for Destruction". I've liked most of Season 5, but this is one of the few episodes of it that I did not care for. "Frame on You," I would also largely agree with you. It was a pretty fun episode, and made up for its lackluster sister episode.
