DEDICATED TO THE MEMORY OF
KIRBY MORROW

yashahime.jpg

It all started when a Japanese teenage girl fell down a well through time, met a half-demon nailed to a sacred tree, and brought ratings to a fledgling Saturday night anime block on Cartoon Network.

Then it all ended when The Final Act ran on Toonami back in 2014-15.

And now it all begins again with the premiere of Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon, the sequel series to the anime adaptation of Rumiko Takahashi's epic time-traveling romance manga.

Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon
Episode 1
"Inuyasha: Since Then"

Towa Higurashi learns about an incident that took place decades ago involving a half-demon named Inuyasha and a priestess named Kagome.

No spoilers, or I'll go Iron Reaver Soul-Stealer on your butts.

Well, the original Inuyasha focused on the adventures of Kagome, Inuyasha, Shippo, Miroku and Sango and the romance that blossomed among them. So of course this show is going to be about the daughters of Sesshomaru, a somewhat antagonistic side character from the original.

Uh...that was an MHA bumber. I see we're off to a good start.

Towa looks rather boy-ish, doesn't she? Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Plastic and metal springs? High-tech sorcery!

And a recap for the uninitiated.

Maybe they'll tell us which one is Yashahime.

And already we're screwing with the time space continuum.

Next she'll find out they have wifi.

Kagome, did your voice change again?

Kagome sounds...off.

Who wants to live in a world free of demons, plague, barbarism, and short life spans when you can have...all that.

Sango livin' the family life.

Kagome, Priestess in training? Man, things have changed.

Looks like Yashahime is continuing the tradition of having good opening songs.

And to think, it would be millennia befoe Chemical X was invented.

Sango!

You don't need to give us names like My Hero Academia. We're very familiar with this bunch.

Kagome, did your voice change again?

Same voice actress from The Final Act, but remember that was dubbed all the way back in 2012. You will notice Kirby Morrow's Miroku sounds a little off as well. Sadly, that was related to his poor health that led to his death about a month later.

Also, keep in mind this show was dubbed by Bang Zoom! in Los Angeles with the Canadians doing their parts from their home studios, so that would change vocal delivery as well.

Man, I forgot how dark this show could be.

Even Jaken sounds weird. So many new voices.

Ugh, please no more shikon jewel. We spent 200 episodes trying to reassemble that thing.

That's still Kirby Morrow, he was really sick at the time of recording.
Well, it certainly shows. Poor guy.

"Brother!" Ah, that's cool of him to call him that.

Oh, if only he still had that hole in his hand that was slowly killing him.

Really. When was this dub recorded?
The dub premiered on November 6th, 2020 and must have been recorded a month or two before that. Kirby died on November 18th of that year. I don't know if you are familiar with the details, but it was very sudden.

Nice to see the old gang back in action.

What, you LIKED having that thing in your hand that ever increasingly threatneed to suck you in?

Good to know that Sango finds time to kill demons while being a mother.

Kaede's still around?

Not all of Family Guy has aged well (and he knows this - hell, he's friends with the PTC president now) but I genuinely think Seth MacFarlane is a really good guy.

Imagine a broadcast TV network giving someone who worked at the Golden Age of Cartoon Network the opportunity to worked on a show, and doing 8 interviews, only to completely ghosted him for weeks for absolutely no reason.

Try to wrap your head around on that one, folks.

Seriously. Explain that to me, Memorable Entertainment Television? :/
Didn't notice that the site was back...

I'll start off by saying X-Men 97 has been a blast to watch. As someone who grew up exposed to the films and cameos on other shows, it was definitely a different treat seeing how both iterations of the franchise handle the characters and their world.
Professor X's speech in today's episode was powerful ... nuff said.
I've ground my wisdom tooth down overtime so that I can clench my jaw properly again. It's equal parts good and bad news.
