Paws I am actually looking to get purchase wise. I read the GN adaptation of The Baby-Sitters Club and such, with Paws being described as akin to it, but petsitting.

Time Lag and She Loves to Cook, She Loves to Eat I have read before due to library copies. Latter is still going on and I decided to make further volumes a regular. And in the mean time, a little to hot to go out, so I ordered these in the mean time.

Weekly reviews:

(for reference, I do all of my reading from Marvel Unlimited and DC Infinite, but also occasionally buy digital comics on my Amazon Kindle):

0.jpg

Robin #5 (1990): Just finished the last issue of the classic first mini-series starring the "Tim Drake" version of Robin. Writer Chuck Dixon is great at organized crime/international espionage type material, and this is a fun "80's/90's action film" adventure for Tim Drake to star in, though it feels a bit strange for a solo Robin story, as he's going around the world fighting a crime ring with a James Bond style villain. I thought this first mini-series would go deeper into his reasons as to WHY he wants to join Batman, but I guess that was already covered in the main "Batman" comic earlier, back in 1989. Nonetheless, this is fun stuff.

Beware the Planet of the Apes #1-3: A fun "Retro" series that insert panels from the old 70's "Planet of the Apes" Marvel comics and weaves them into this modern day storyline. It also adds new lore to the late 60's/early 70's films (adding new "mutated human" cities and new "Warrior Ape" empires (different from the ones featured in the first two films).

My problem is (and this is technically spoilers to a film from 1970, so "be aware") as this is a prequel, we know where all of this eventually ends - with the destruction of Earth (at the end of the 2nd film). There are hints in this prequel that they're looking to change the future, and there's one more issue to go in this mini-series, but it feels like this should've been 12 issues in length. I fear it's all going to wrap up too quickly.

Nightlight was an earlier Bingo prize I kept forgetting to put in earlier pics.

The MLP stuff my mom found at a thrift store and my purchases being the GN. Same ones I previously checked out from the library except Paws Volume 3.

I recently read the first four issues of IDW's Ninja Turtles reboot series (from back in 2011). This was from "the IDW Collection vol. 1" (on Comixology Unlimited).

81Z9xhKpCxL._SY466_.jpg

I've never followed previous continuities (from the 80's or 90's comics). The only "continuity" I ever followed was the 80's cartoon. So as I went through these four issues, I felt this was a successful re-invention, showing April O'Neal as a scientist, Splinter as imbued with intelligence before the mutagen (as a lab experiment), and just....a bunch of other things.

One thing that didn't sit well with me was Raphael being separated from the others when they got "mutated" (and him spending the first 18 months of his "mutated" life living on the streets. Yes, it explains why he's more of a brawler, and why he's a bit more "angry" than the rest, but....it felt too "different" for me.

Other than that, these opening 4 issues are more of a "warm up" to the series. I'll see if I keep reading (this was just a "Free trail" test run of "Comixology Unlimited", which....isn't quite the same as DC Infinite and Marvel Unlimited services).

I'm also wondering if I can just pick up with reading the new Jason Aaron written run (which just started over with a new Issue #1), or if I need to read issues #5 to 150, to fully get everything that's going on.....

Patra #1

This one sounded intriguing, so I'm including the synopsis here (not sure it warranted it's own talkback thread):

"Patra #1
Written by: James Robinson
Art by: Scott Kolins
Synopsis:
From the celebrated creators behind Starman and The Flash comes this new supernatural series about slasher monsters, mad scientists, and cult movie-inspired horror.

A young girl named 'Patra wakes up with no memory of her past. All she knows is that a big knife and a horrific mask appear whenever she's in danger. Oh, that, and a deranged killer, in the tradition of 1980s slasher films, who is slaughtering families in a small mid-western town, and wants to make Patra his victim too. Join us for a new series as one brave little girl faces both monstrous dangers and mysterious secrets in this homage to the classic horror movies of yore.

Celebrated scribe James Robinson and artist Scott Kolins bring a new slasher horror series to Dark Horse!"
