Reading it, if it wasn't obvious by now, WE ARE COOKED!!!
I also saw the Nelvana Beetlejuice and the 90s Rob Paulsen "The Mask" there, too. This is going to be very much like Cartoon Network was in the late 90s and early 2000s! A healthy blend of classic and contemporary animated content. (The current Boomerang is also somewhat like that, but with far less variety and more repetition.)The character borders on the website basically gives you a picture of what is going to be shown. Not just our favorite classics, but some 90s and 2000s classics as well (Xiaolin Showdown, Freakazoid!, Duck Dodgers, 2 Stupid Dogs, Krypto the Superdog, etc..)
On that note, Saved by the Bell runs because it is old now, but it also fulfills the mandated E/I rules , that's also why TBS ran it so long when they were fulfills E/I rules for the WTBS feed in Atlanta. It's better than the boring E/I shows that exist.Baby Looney Tunes?!? And I thought Saved By the Bell was an odd fit for the main channel.
Still I get the sense they may be aiming for a wider "born in the 20th Century" core audience, rather than the more Boomer-centric focus of the first channel.

I said cooked because uh…well it sounded better in my head, OK?I'm not exactly sure what you mean by cooked. I'm going to assume you don't mean “hosed”, as Ratchet (Ratchet and Clank) would say…
If the people doing the promos for this are the same people that do the promos for MeTV, then I think we’ll be good there. It sounds like being transported back to 1995 Cartoon Network. I consider this a huge win, though part what made CN special back then was the branding and the promos (commercials).
Beyond the press release, everyone should know that there is much I CANNOT talk about (yet) as to what this new network has planned… but if you know me, read my books, know my blogs, you’ll have to take my word that this announcement today is just the tip of the iceberg.
Let’s go over what I can tell you: Number one – this is not another “Boomerang”. As best I can describe it – think 1992 Cartoon Network – TIMES 100. On steroids. Available for free. Everywhere.
It’s an over-the-air channel (like your local MeTV digital sub channel). And with your help, by consumer demand, it will also be available on a variety of cable systems and streaming services.
In addition to the entire Warner Bros. library of animated shorts, series and features (which you all know: Looney Tunes, Popeye, MGM, Tex Avery. etc), we’ll be mining the vaults at Sony (Columbia, UPA), Universal (Lantz, Harveytoons, Underdog, etc) and other major studios… We will also be resurrecting classic TV shows unavailable in (in some cases, for over 50 years). Tip of the iceberg. Rocky and Bullwinkle, Speed Racer… stuff I can’t tell you about yet because we want to surprise you throughout the first year.
The are NO PLANS for this channel to ever produce new animation (as Cartoon Network did). This is a Classic Cartoon channel devoted to the history of animation.
